Denmark has a very balanced job market and therefore, is less attractive for taking up a job than other European countries. Apart from the knowledge of the Danish language that is absolutely required the rather low level of wages constitutes another reason for not seeking a job here. On the other hand, it is very easy to take up a job in Denmark since there are only few bureaucratic obstacles which need to be overcome. And thus, Denmark can definitely be recommended.
In Italy’s economy, there is still what is called the traditional north-south divide. While in some parts of the “rich” and heavily industrialized north, there is almost full employment, large parts of Italy’s south suffer from high unemployment.
In the Netherlands job market policy follows very progressive trains of thought. There are numerous alternative models to promote employment contributing to the fact that the unemployment rate is among the lowest in Europe with an average of less than 5 %. Apart from part time and temporary employment being frequent, also flexibility within work contracts is exemplary.
For many people, the USA is still the land of their dreams. Despite the economic stagnation and the end of the new economy boom, America is considered to be the country of ambitious persons, who will make their American way, from 'rags to riches' or from 'bodybuilder to governor'. It is the traditional freedom of enterprise which leverages new business ideas faster and more simply in the USA than in Europe.
There are no restrictions for citizens of the EU with respect to residence and work permits in Germany (freedom of residence inside the EU). However, you must apply for a residence permit for formal reasons.
The Belgian unemployment rate of 7.4 percent is a bit below the European Union's 8.7 in the second quarter 2004.
