Damco is seeking an outstanding commercial executive, capable of combining general management and strategic insights with hands-on sales leadership to serve as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) for the Nordics & Eastern Europe area (NEU).

The right individual will be able to demonstrate his/her proven track record of consistently growing sales and will play a large leadership role, contributing to the strategic planning and growth of the area adopting a defined sales excellence approach to be executed across the area.

Primary responsibilities for this position include driving all aspects of sales activities and strategies across all products including responsibility for continuously refining, managing, and implementing a commercial business plan to achieve projected sales and profitability through the generation of new business from existing and new customers. This is done by effectively managing and providing leadership to the commercial offices in the area - an organization of approximately 40 commercial staff.

In addition, the Chief Commercial Officer will be responsible for managing and retaining existing customer relationships and contracts in capacity as executive sponsor in close collaboration with the area management, account managers and the sales teams. Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver the required level of sustained top-line growth for Damco NEU and manage and implement an integrated approach to sales and business development.
  • Lead the development of the area´s commercial strategy and fully support strategy development and execution as part of the Regional Commercial team.
  • Provide functional leadership to the commercial offices across the area (approximately 40 employees) and is responsible for ensuring the required operational and organizational capability of the sales and business development teams.
  • Manage a team of 8-10 direct reports located in Sweden, Denmark and Russia.
  • Work with other functional areas to develop unique products and services.
  • Oversee the development of "big-ticket deals and personally lead major opportunities as appropriate.
  • Ensure sales performance management and maximize earnings, growth, revenue and /or profitability through strong leadership, effective hands on management and best-in-class services.
  • Constantly manage and assess the area´s customer portfolio ensuring sustainable contribution levels are delivered.
You will be part of the Area management team and report directly into the Area CEO. In this role you contribute to wider decision making including the development of practices, processes and procedures within the Area.

The position is currently located in Aarhus, Denmark but could also be located in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Who we are looking for
  • Relevant degree or significant relevant experience required.
  • A seasoned executive and leader of others with a minimum of 7 to 10 years of senior management experience ideally gained within the international Logistics/Supply Chain management and/or global cargo transportation industries.
  • An excellent track record as a leader in international sales and business development with increasing responsibilities. Is able to identify, pursue and secure attractive commercial opportunities with very focused and intense sales and business development efforts and has strong performance management skills.
  • Ability to develop area commercial strategy, define tactics and establish milestones and drive the organization to successful delivery of the strategy within a global and regional framework. Is capable of looking outside industry/current Company for inspiration and progress.
  • A role model in applying modern sales methodologies and tools with proven track record in opportunity coaching and sales management.
  • A coaching mindset a prerequisite as day2day coaching of direct reports is an imbedded part of the sales excellence program
  • Ability to work effectively across a global matrix environment with the agility to be resourceful, creative, and maintain flexibility to engage multiple parties across functions and geographies
Fluent in English. Swedish or Danish is preferred.
