The Role

The Quality laboratory is a part of the Quality Department. The department actively work to assure quality throughout the whole paper mill. The laboratory is in charge of the largest parts of both quality control and quality assurance. As Quality Laboratory Manager, you are responsible for the lab. You will report to the Quality Manager
As Quality Laboratory Manager, you will together with your 4 employees actively work to ensure our product quality and contribute to its development. You will formulate, develop and implement methods and procedures for the lab that allows Crane to maximize performance and profit according to commercial, production and profitability goals. You will develop your processes with a focus on increased quality, productivity and cost effectiveness. You will lead and develop the lab to an organization that is characterized by high technical proficiency and skills, high motivation and a commercial way of thinking at every stage.

Key responsibilities:
  • Analyze, plan and solve problems from a tactical perspective and contribute to effective decision-making for the lab and for Crane
  • Responsible for ensuring that the correct analyze methods are implemented and used properly.
  • Lead investigative work regarding supplier claims
  • Ensure the correct prioritization of testing and development is applied to the unit in order to meet customer and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure that the laboratory is properly equipped by initiating, developing and validating new methods of analysis. Responsible for test equipment, the calibration and service of theses.
  • Participate in quality work at customer inspection
  • Participate in preparation of production work concerning testing
  • Support in product and process development process driven by other parts of the company
  • Establish procedures and working practices within the unit lab that leads to continuous improvement and work according to LEAN principles
  • Support management and operators at the cotton and pulp processing in daily governance and improvement meetings
Qualifications

The right candidate has a Master or equivalent degree with chemical orientation. Further you have deep expertise in paper testing and analysis or similar testing and have experience of developing analytical methods. You have at least 3 years of experience from relevant post-academic laboratory work and at least 3 years' experience from management. You are fluent, written and spoken, in English and Swedish. It is a merit if you have experience working with LEAN work and continuous improvement.

To be successful in this position it important that you are a natural leader with good interpersonal skills and communication skills. You can easily understand the strength of your team but also identify and work to continuously to improve both your team, yourself and your company. The right candidate is positive, self-motivated and enjoy working toward goals in a dynamic organization.
Further you are driven to ensure the right quality. Accuracy is important to you and you appreciate and understand the importance of documenting and following up.
