The UX research team has the mission to make sure business and product strategies are guided by user insights. Schibsted not only owns the leading newspapers in Scandinavia, Aftenposten and VG in Norway and Aftonbladet and Svenska Dagbladet in Sweden - but also a number of regional news brands like Bergens Tidende and Stavanger Aftenblad. What will you do?

As the Head of UX Research you will lead a team of 10 UX researchers based in Oslo and Stockholm. Together with the team, you will actively identify strategic insights needed and work on research projects with a high impact on multiple products in Schibsted media. In these strategic projects, we work closely with designers and product managers in the digital product teams.

The team also aims to empower all the product teams in Schibsted Media to do their own tactical research and truly embed this in their product development processes. This means that besides working on larger scale strategic research projects, every researcher also dedicates themselves to supporting several digital product teams. This includes working with publishers like Bergens Tidende, Aftenposten, VG, Aftonbladet and Svenska Dagbladet. But also Vektklubb and

Together with stakeholders and the research team, you will set, coordinate and communicate research across our media product teams and to the whole organization. You are a key contributor to align how we work with user-centered product development and work as an ambassador to communicate insights about our users to our organization.

At Schibsted Media we are a large number (50+) of UXers that are proud of being part of strengthening democracy in Scandinavia and we are all working on different aspects of a media company. You will be a part of this extended and super experienced UX organization and in this team we share knowledge, meet at UX gatherings, run collaborative design critique sessions and meet up for social events. You will report directly to the UX Director and become part of the UX management team.

Who are we looking for?

You are an experienced UX research practitioner with a passion for coaching and mentoring others (researchers as well as non-researchers). You have what it takes to lead and inspire people, with several years of experience in people management.

Collaboration with different disciplines feels natural to you even in the most complex projects. You are curious by nature and keen to let user insights influence product development and company strategy. You have experience in evangelizing and teaching research in a product and tech organisation. It is easy for you to share your work and excite stakeholders about research findings.

You have experience in working with both qualitative and quantitative research and understand how this can strengthen your research insights.

Swedish or Norwegian does not have to be your native language, you do however have to feel comfortable to conduct research and have meetings in one or both of these languages.

Proven experience in:
  • Successful management of people
  • Help teams optimize processes and methodologies
  • Impact of user research work in live (digital) products
  • Ability to work in a distributed matrix organization.

Om företaget
Product & Tech is responsible for product development in News Media. The unit consists of product managers, software engineers, UX experts, and user researchers. A big part of our work is developing joint technology platforms for Schibsted's news brands. These include platforms for content production and distribution, digital subscriptions, and advertising. Most of our teams work distributed, with colleagues in Oslo, Stockholm, Krakow, Gdansk, Bergen, and Stavanger.
