Reading Scientific Services Limited (RSSL) provides a range of scientific analysis, research and consultancy services to the food, consumer goods, pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. This role is to grow profitable pharmaceutical sales in Europe (excluding UK).

As European Business Development Manager you will be responsible for leading pharmaceutical sales growth into Europe, with primary focus outside of the UK. You will develop new customer strategies from sourcing potential clients to closing sales opportunities and hunt and lead high value sales opportunities.

You will work with your internal partners and share knowledge of market and sales techniques to other members of the RSSL Commercial team and support Laboratory technical specialists on commercial opportunities and market changes.

Ultimately you have the opportunity to raise the RSSL brand in Mainland Europe!

Job description:

Main Responsibilities:

Lead pharmaceutical/biotechnology sales growth into Europe, with primary focus outside of the UK:
  • Seek market differentiators to determine how best to serve the European market (excluding UK
  • Identify, prioritise and lead sales growth in specific geographic areas
  • Identify potential clients, track, build relationships and close sales opportunities
  • Manage sales requests in line with RSSL procedures and policies. Prepare relevant quotations/proposals
  • Ensure our service offering and the commercial connection between RSSL and the client is customer/country centric
  • Actively engage with Commercial team in setting annual sales targets and support forecast requests
  • Support the UK based sales team as and when required by the Pharma Sales lead
  • Have strong internal team collaborations to maximise sales opportunities outside of the immediate area in line with RSSL global growth plans
Develop new customer strategies from sourcing potential clients to closing sales opportunities
  • Understand client demands and work with RSSL technical, finance and commercial teams to develop a seamless sales offering
  • Understand regulatory and reactive sales opportunities to ensure our service offering is compliant with the markets we serve. In addition, ensure new regulations and proposed changes are communicated within RSSL
  • Search for new service offerings that complement our current service offering and determine potential size of market and timings
  • Regularly review pricing and exchange rate fluctuations and work with Finance, Lab Managers and Commercial Leads to determine appropriate pricing models
Raise the RSSL brand in Mainland Europe
  • Identify appropriate marketing events to support the geographies and market offering of primary focus
  • Actively engage in professional industry bodies. Network and present back findings to Commercial and Technical teams
  • Identify new seminars/events where our technical experts can present
Required profile:

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Language Requirements

Knowledge:
  • Have a proven scientific background with recognised qualifications - Degree, HND or equivalent qualification.
  • Full driving licence
  • Have an understanding of laboratory work and its application to solving customer problems.
  • GMP Knowledge
Skills:
  • High level of interpersonal skills and technical credibility to develop excellent working relationships with both clients and internal teams
  • Managing vision and purpose to meet RSSL growth plans
  • Ability to work on own initiative whilst driving the RSSL common goals
  • Competent independent strong leader with strong team working capabilities
Functional Technical Skills:
  • Ability to prioritise, forecast sales growth and decipher true market conditions
  • An organised approach, capable of working on several projects at any one time (diverse in sales value from $100 through to $5MM in value)
  • The ability to offer valuable advice and guidance on a broad range of scientific techniques to clients.
  • The ability to understand and interpret Pharmaceutical industry requirements and translate into business opportunities and new service offerings.
  • Ability and credibility to represent RSSL at networking and industry events
Experience:
*8 years customer services and sales experience

  • English
  • European - German / Nordic / French / Spanish
