As a System Engineer Telematics you will be a part of the Driver Interaction and Infotainment department. You will develop system solutions for delivery to current and future programs, specifically in the technology areas relating to Telematics, Volvo On Call, Customer Service Booking etc. Your daily work will include talking to other system engineers/architects at Volvo Cars as well as with other team members and of course, suppliers implementing your system design.

Volvo Cars is adopting the Agile Way of working which means you will belong to a scrum team, with a scrum master and a product owner. As a team, you will work with items from the team backlog. Each team member will assist in completing items from the backlog although each team member have a speciality like System Engineering, System test etc.

Main responsibilities
  • Work as a system designer in a team developing system design for the telematics area (e.g. Volvo On Call, Customer Service Booking Wi-Fi Hotspot, Internet source selector)
  • Be involved in analysis of high level requirements and writing of detailed requirements
  • Specify communications protocols and logic for subsystems
  • Make sure systems interact in a correct way and that functions are user oriented
Required qualifications
  • BSc degree in computer systems or equivalent
  • Experience of working with system design where connected devices are involved, meaning understanding how a device can communicate with a cloud as well as presentation on e.g. a mobile app
  • Experience of connectivity technologies 3G/LTE, Wi-Fi, BLE, GNSS, Ethernet, CAN, Android
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken
  • Driver's license (category B)
  • Knowledge working with the requirement tool Elektra
  • Knowledge how basetech works (diagnostics, ECU to ECU communication, bluetooth communication etc.)
  • Good knowledge from the automotive domain
