Make a difference as Sustainability Manager at Nordic Capital

We are now looking for an additionally sustainability manager to improve our capabilities in supporting our portfolio companies in sustainability matters.

We are now looking for an additionally sustainability manager to improve our capabilities in supporting our portfolio companies in sustainability matters.

The Role
The role as Sustainability manager is broad and will span strategic planning and advice, sharing and training sustainability excellence, aswell as operational support and guidance together with both
Nordic Capitals Investments teams and portfolio companies. The Sustainability manager will act as a catalyst for sustainable change in portfolio companies, as support for management teams and become involved in value creation planning in terms of sustainability factors during the initial phase of ownership. Our ambition is to help companies become successful, sustainable businesses.

We seek to do this in a responsible way, with a clear understanding of the environmental and social impacts. As a result, sustainability factors are fully integrated into all stages of our investment and ownership process from evaluation through to exit.

In addition to the work with portfolio companies, the
Sustainability manager will work together with the investments teams to identify and analyse risks and opportunities impacting businesses from different environmental, governance and social factors. The Sustainability manager will be part of the sustainability team driving Nordic Capitals sustainability agenda throughout the investment cycle. Specific tasks are likely to include:

  • Identify risk and opportunity assessments during the investment phase to address sustainability matters
  • Support newly acquired portfolio companies in shaping a sustainability agenda
  • Support and train investment organisation and top management in sustainability
  • Conduct sustainability reports of portfolio companies and follow up with important activities for improvement
  • Develop Nordic Capitals responsible investment framework and processes to ensure best practice and provide trainings to Nordic Capital staff and portfolio company managers

The role will be based in Nordic Capital Advisory's Stockholm office, but in any event will require some travel as Nordic Capitals portfolio companies spans across Europe. The role will report to the Director of Communication and Sustainability and be a member of that team.

The Profile
In order to successfully embrace the broad scope, the increasing demand and change within the sustainability area, and the multiple senior interfaces within the scope of this role, the ideal candidate is a experienced profile who brings either operational own experience within driving sustainability or has worked around 5 years as a consultant to support companies in driving a sustainable agenda. The candidate has had exposure to a broad range of topics in sustainability and ideally to several industries.

The most important personal qualities are the following:
  • Strong analytical capabilities with an intellectual ability to move between the high level, holistic view of the overall business priorities in a longer term perspective and the details of everyday issues
  • Proven track record of implementing and driving sustainable agendas in businesses
  • Relationship oriented, with proven ability to build strong working relationships with different stakeholders
  • Integrity and the personal maturity required to handle the role of being both a coach and representative of the owner
  • High results-orientation wanting to make a difference and ability to work independently and in a team, and with a low level of prestige
  • Creative and solutions oriented personality with solid written and oral communication skills and ability to facilitate processes.
